5-DAY Classic Queen Elizabeth-Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi

This 3- day safari takes you to a face to face encounter with the giants of the wild- the Mountain Gorilla in their amazing natural habitat in the great Bwindi Impenetrable Rainforest NP. Enroute, you have a chance to stop at the Equator- the imaginary line that divides the earth into two hemisphere and see a rare scientific experiment where water swirls into two different direction. The trip gives you great opportunity to take memorable pictures to last you a lifetime beside the gorilla tracking experience.

DAY 2: Nature walk, community interaction, Kyambura gorge

Wake early to experience a different face of the park. Venture off road to track and monitor lions. Take a long walk in the Maramagambo Forest where you can find a variety of birds, forest antelope, monkeys, a bat cave and the ‘cormorant house’ a large tree in the forest that has been turned white by the birds that roost there at night.

After your packed lunch/at the gorge, spend the afternoon tracking chimps in Kyambura Gorge. Explore this ‘underground forest’ before a picnic lunch overlooking the gorge, or at one of the nearby lodges.

Spend an hour doing an agro-tour walk through community farmland and learn about farming techniques, medicinal plants and bee keeping. To top off an action-packed day, there is the option of taking the Crater Lake Drive to see this God made wonders.

DAY 3- Moment with the tree climbing lions.

Drive to the south of the park to explore the Edward Flats and the Ishasha Plains to find the region’s famous tree climbing lions as well as abundant kobs, topi, buffalo and elephant before heading out of the park and onto Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for Gorilla tracking.

Day 4 -Encounter with the Gentle Giants- Mountain Gorillas.

It is D-day!

Preparations begin quite early with a quick breakfast to enable you catch up with the group. The hiking and tracking is both beautiful, tiresome and adventurous.

The terrain can be treacherous and muddy while the tracking can take anywhere from two hours to eight hours. But it is all worth it as you come face to face with these dinosaurs of the wild described as the amazing gentle giants.

The gentle habits of these incredible creatures defy their size. You will be guided on how to behave in their presence as well as how to capture your lifetime memorable photos while in their presence. You are restricted to only one hour with the gorillas because of safety and habituation reasons. But again, it is all worth it.

You may also see other primates as well as monkeys, butterflies birds and the incredible mist covered terrain.

 After tracking, depart for Kampala. Overnight at Mbarara/ Kabale

Day 5- Ngamba Island/ Zoo/ Night life.

Depart to Kampala and transfer to Entebbe to catch your flight.

(Optional) Reaching Entebbe early allows you time to either go to Ngamba Island for chimpanzee treking or visit the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre (Entebbe Zoo)/ experience the vibrant night life.
