3 Days/2 Nights Wildlife Safari to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Queen Elizabeth National Park located in southwestern Uganda is home to the world famous tree climbing lions. On this safari, you will glide past the crater Lakes while Africa’s third highest and most rugged mountain- the imposing Rwenzori Mountains will be in the foreground. You will also experience the fascinating Hot Air balloon safari climaxed with a lovely bush breakfast

Day 1: Depart Kampala at 6.00 AM for the 6 7- hour drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The journey takes you through the cool undulating tea plantations along Fort Portal town also known as Uganda’s tourism town. You then descend into the rift valley with glimpses of the mighty snow-capped Rwenzori Mountain range in the distance through Kasese town before finally reaching Queen Elizabeth National Park where you will have lunch.
Optional (Evening game drive)- Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge.

Day 2: This is the D-day for the Hot Air Balloon safari- a whole new approach to early mornings on safari.

After breakfast at 5 am, your driver will take you to Kasenyi- the open savannah grassland and spot for launch of the Hot air balloon flight. Kasenyi is the stereotypical African landscape and is the most popular area to search for big cats in the early morning and late afternoon. Here, you will see large herds of Ugandan Kob grazing which attracts predators. If you are lucky you will find the big game feeding on them including lion and leopard creating a captivating sight of game hunting and survival.

6:15: The Hot Air ballon flight takes off. You will lift off just before sunrise and drift over the Euphorbia trees and thickets in search of lion, leopard, elephant, kob and other antelope while having panoramic views of Lake George and the Rwenzori Mountains for the next about 1 hour.

After the flight, you will settle down for a memorable bush breakfast, right in the centre of the pack (that signifies African paradise) and you will toast to a glass of wine against the backdrop of the epic African sunrise to commemorate your beautiful journey back from the skies. You will then be awarded your flight certificate with great photo opportunities.

8.30 a.m. Return to the lodge for a short relaxation and lunch. After lunch (Optional), you can go for the boat cruise. Your boat will be gliding by the Kazinga Channel past hippos and the Great Nile crocodiles. Return to lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: After Breakfast, depart the lodge for enroute journey to Kampala with packed lunch.

Option Two: Day 3: Chimp trek, leave Queen Elizabeth for Kampala

This is the optional final day of our adventure. After breakfast, head to Kyambura game or Kalinzu Forest reserve for a short brief before embarking on your Chimpanzee trek. You will then exit via Mbarara town allowing you the chance to view the great Rift Valley escarpment vegetation. You will then make a stopover at the Equator- the imaginary line that divides the earth into two halves. At the Equator, you will be treated to a rear opportunity of seeing water swirl in two opposite directions of the northern & southern hemispheres. In the next two and half hours you will drive back to Kampala and either head to the airport or are dropped at your hotel.   End of Safari
